BIA West Cargo Apron

Breedon carried out a major drainage upgrade at Belfast International Airport’s West Apron.

The project involved the extension of the existing West Cargo Apron to accommodate additional taxiing of freight airlines. The apron was operational throughout the duration of the works which involved considerable interaction with Airport operations with regard to planning and day–to–day programming.   It was critical that the works were delivered on time as the Client had already entered into contract with an additional freight operator for the use of an area of the apron.

Airside works included the construction of a number of 5m deep F900 rated in–situ concrete storm manholes, the upgrading of the existing floodlighting system and watermain and the excavation and construction of 5000m2 pavement quality aprons. The construction of a new access road and installation of Armco barrier.
