Strategic Urban Expansion on the Northern edge of Wellingborough


Wellingborough (North) UE is an urban expansion on the northern edge of Wellingborough which is being developed by the consortium Northants LLP with funding for the project provided by Homes England. Phase 1 of the development is to comprise the initial infrastructure to facilitate the development of 700 dwellings, a primary school and a local centre.

The Phase 1A Infrastructure Works involved the construction of new adopted roads with storm and foul drainage, new and extended surface water attenuation balancing ponds, undertaking a managed and balanced earthworks process, and a single culvert crossing of the Harrowden Brook.

The scope of Infrastructure Works delivered were as follows:

Construction of two new signalised junctions along Niort Way and associated Section 278 road widening of Niort Way and Gleneagles Drive.
Construction of retaining wall to the east of Gleneagles Drive to facilitate the road widening.
Extension of existing 1800mm diameter culvert below Niort Way by approximately 10.5m to facilitate widening.
Construction of 1,750m of new on-site highways to Section 38 standards.
Section 185 Storm and Foul Construction Works.
Construction of box culvert crossing Harrowden Brook.
Diversion of existing Anglian Water Foul Water sewer bisecting the North Wellingborough Site.
